How old you think this Buck is?  The goal is to help you better learn some of the body characteristics of deer so you can let younger bucks walk or grow older if you are working on a QDM effort on your property.  Remember Kip Adams, Biologist from Quality Deer Management Association, will be providing his expertise at the end of the month based on what he sees from these pictures…….

The photo of this Georgia buck was taken over two months before the peak of the rut so there is no tarsal staining, but his body is exceptionally large.  His legs appear too short for his body, he has muscular shoulders, a deep chest, a full stomach, and heavy hind quarters.  His head is turned so we can’t see how low his neck connects to his chest, but the other characteristics are enough to suggest he is at least 4.5 years old and most likely 5.5 years.- Kip Adams, QDMA
