No matter if you are an outfitter or you are managing your own hunting farm. Game and Trail Cameras are critical part of your Archery Equipment to understanding your deer herd. We are going to review the new 2012 Spypoint series of Game Cameras. While Spypoint may not be the most popular brand you see on TV they have figured out how to produce a high quality camera for hunters. One of the things that has helped us shoot bigger deer over the past several years is minimizing our presence in the woods. That could be from better scent control, to how we enter and exit the woods to get to our stands or they types of game cameras we use. Spypoint has developed some really unique cameras that minimize your need to constantly go back to the base camera to capture the images. Additionally, the new Black Flash Technology reduces likelihood of spooking deer because the LED likes will not glow like traditional Infrared Red lights.

Spypoint IR-5

The IR-5 surveillance camera is equipped with 35 infrared LEDs for great night time illumination. With 5 megapixel picture quality, photos and videos captured by the IR-5 are in color by day and black and white by night. The IR-5 has several interesting options for the user such as displaying (or stamping) the date, time, temperature and moon phase on the photos. This is a great “work horse” game camera that will get the job done. It has a great price point and allows you to have several cameras on your property.

The IR-5 camera is the entry-level model but still offers great capabilities. It records video sequences from 10 to 90 seconds and can be powered by either 6 AA alkaline batteries or a lithium battery pack for better battery life.

The IR-7 surveillance and game camera is equipped with 46 infrared LEDs for excellent night time illumination. With 7 megapixel picture quality, photos and videos captured by the IR-7 are in color by day and black and white by night. The IR-7 has several interesting options for the user such as displaying (or stamping) the date, time, temperature and moon phase on the photos and also the possibility of a connection with a solar panel to maintain the charge of the lithium battery.

Video clips with sound! This will be a great feature during the Pre-Rut and Rut times of the season. Along with Spring Turkey Season. Equipped with an ultra-sensitive microphone at its base, the IR-7 surveillance camera captures ambient sound automatically when recording movie clips! These are pictures using the IR-7 at night and during the day. I was impressed with the trigger speed of the picture of me on tractor to be able to capture the image of moving tractor and have it centered…..

SPY POINT TINY-W2

With a list of possibilities, the new Tiny-W2 is sure to make would-be thieves think twice about taking what isn’t theirs. Thanks to a Blackbox Receiver, which can be placed up to 250ft away from the main camera, each picture that is captured by the main unit is automatically sent to the minuscule backup box hidden discretely some distance away. In the event that your camera is stolen, you will still have access to the images; allowing you to still see the deer activity at your site, but more importantly, the last person who stood in front of your camera. Making quite a statement in 2012, SpyPoint has one of the most impressive lineups on the market. Black Flash Technology is important if you have over sensitive deer to the “glow” of the IR LEDs at night. Along with anyone who is one your property, this camera will take a picture and they will not have a clue due to the Black Flash Technology. First on the list is the compact IR-7. Measuring roughly 4x6x2 inches, this 7MP infrared game camera has a ton of features; including 46 infrared LED’s for night time illumination, 10-90 sec video recording, date/time/moon/temp stamp, adjustable distance detection sensor (5 to 50 ft) sound recording, and 4 shot burst mode. Keeping up with the fast-paced world we live in, the LIVE 3G instantly sends a 3G Cellular photo through the SpyPoint website. The camera also allows you to choose which images you wish to download to your smartphone or laptop in high resolution. And, with a theft-alert notification, you are instantly sent an e-mail telling you that your camera has been moved. Camera configurations can also be made wirelessly via the SpyPoint website.
